What is Plant ID Communities?

Plant ID Communities is a reference platform built with — and for — real plant communities. Each community is a curated dictionary of species, care information, and identification help, maintained by the actual leaders and experts of that community rather than crowd-sourced guesswork.

How does it start?

Plant ID Communities started with the founder's own Syngonium community, one of the largest of its kind. Every community on the platform follows the same model: a leader (or leaders) with real, hands-on expertise curates and reviews the dictionary, while members can suggest new species and contribute photos.

Who is it for?

Plant enthusiasts who want a reliable, expert-reviewed reference instead of scattered forum posts and conflicting advice — and community leaders who already do this work informally and want a proper home for it.

Is it free?

Browsing communities and species dictionaries is free. Some pages may in the future link to recommended products through affiliate links, which help support the platform at no extra cost to you.

Can I start a community?

Yes — if you already lead a plant community elsewhere (a Facebook group, Discord server, etc.), you can apply to bring it onto the platform. An admin reviews every application before a new community goes live.
